Code Retreat is an event for software developers interested in improving their craft by collaborating with other developers while practicing programming techniques in a fun and focused activity. This is an all-day event during which programmers will form groups of two to practice the fundamentals of software development through working on an established problem: Conway's Game of Life. More information on how it works.
This event is open to programmers from all backgrounds. Past code retreats have used Java or Ruby as the implementation language for solving the Game of Life exercise. Developers attending this event are welcome to use whatever language they prefer as long as their collaborators have sufficient proficiency to actively participate.
This event is being sponsored and organized jointly by representatives from the local Ruby, .Net and Java communities, so we should have a good mix of people. It is also being held the day after Agile 2010 Conference, so we hope to draw some people from there.
